The Wildlife and The WildernessThere are 170 native bird species listed in the Kalbarri area and a Kalbarri Wilderness Cruise is the opportunity to see an array of them in their natural habitat. Search the trees, the sky and the water for Shoreline, Estuarine and Bush species. Eagles, Kites and Kestrels. Pelicans, Comerants, Egrets and more.
Look to the land for Western Gray and Red Kangaroos lazing on the sandstone edging of the river. See Euros or Walleroos in their homes of the nearby rocky outcrops. Watch the emus race along the river flats, disturbing the feral goats as they graze not far from the rivers edge.
Marvel at the geology of this ancient waterway and see how floodwaters have carved spectacular chasms through the Tumblagooda Sandstone on its meandering path to the Indian Ocean.
During the wildflower season from winter to early spring you will see the beautiful colours and shapes of the wildflower blooms. Take in their lingering scents as we pass through the different areas of the river.
